Co-enzyme Q10
Coenzyme Q10, also known as ubiquinone, is found in the mitochondria, and it is essential for energy production. The mitochondria, which is the most active part of a cell, uses the enzyme as a fuel by delivering electrical charges to the mitochondria so that they can produce energy; i.e., sustain life. Coenzyme Q10 is also an antioxidant that helps to prevent damage to cell membranes. CoQ10 is found in most body tissues, the highest amounts are found in the heart, liver, kidneys, and pancreas. Tissue levels of coenzyme Q10 decline as we age.
